How I Found Authenticity in my Marketing & Sales After Experiencing "Scammy" Marketing Agencies

With over 17 years in the beauty and wellness industries and over 7 years owning not one, but two businesses, I’ve faced my fair share of challenges, especially when it came to finding authentic marketing solutions. Today, I want to tell you how I moved away from inauthentic marketing agencies and found a genuine approach to sales and client relationships that transformed my business.

My Journey in the Beauty and Wellness Industries

Starting out, I was deeply passionate about helping people feel their best. From offering rejuvenating facials and relaxing massages to creating comprehensive wellness plans, my mission was to make a positive impact on my clients’ lives. As my businesses grew, I needed to reach more clients and expand my services, which led me to explore online marketing agencies.

The Struggle with Marketing Agencies

Empty Promises: Many agencies promised quick results and a surge in clients, but the outcomes were often disappointing. The leads generated were usually misaligned with my business values and client expectations.

Inauthentic Tactics: I found that many agencies relied on pushy sales tactics and misleading advertising, which conflicted with my commitment to authenticity and genuine client care.

Lack of Personalization: The strategies offered were often generic, lacking the customization needed to truly connect with my target audience.

Seeking Authenticity in Sales

Determined to find a better way, I decided to take control and create a sales approach that felt authentic and aligned with my values. Here’s how I did it:

Embracing the Transformation Declaration

The first step was to clearly define the transformation I offered my clients through a Transformation Declaration. This declaration outlined who I help, what I help them with, and the transformation they would experience from my services. For example:

  • Beauty Services: “We help individuals with aging concerns achieve radiant, youthful skin that boosts their confidence.”

  • Wellness Programs: “We guide busy professionals to a healthier lifestyle, increasing their energy and overall well-being.”

This declaration became the foundation of all my marketing and sales efforts, ensuring every message was aligned with the genuine value I provided.

Creating High-Value Service Packages

Shifting from single services to comprehensive packages was a game-changer. Here’s what I focused on:

  • Customization: Tailoring packages to specific client goals, such as a “Total Wellness Reboot” that included nutrition coaching, fitness sessions, and stress management.

  • Creative Naming: Using names that resonated with the transformation clients sought, making the packages more appealing and marketable.

  • Clear Benefits: Clearly outlining the benefits and expected outcomes, helping clients see the real value in investing in a package.

Learning Authentic Sales Techniques

I developed a robust sales communication framework called the QUEEN Method, designed to make sales conversations feel natural and effective. Here’s a simplified overview:

  • Questions: Asking insightful questions to understand clients’ needs.

  • Understand: Empathizing with their experiences and showing genuine concern.

  • Educate: Providing valuable information and suggestions.

  • Engage: Discussing solutions collaboratively.

  • Narrow Down: Agreeing on the next steps and ensuring clarity.

Working Smarter, Not Harder

To streamline my sales process and make it more effective, I developed a specific strategy that integrated social media marketing with a structured sales approach:

  • Authentic Ads: I created genuine, engaging social media ads that resonated with my target audience and clearly communicated the transformation I offered.

  • Seamless Sales Funnel: My ads directed potential clients to a well-designed sales page, where they could learn more about the packages and fill out a form to express their interest.

  • Automated Booking Messages: Once the form was filled, automated messages were sent to guide clients on how to book their initial consultation.

  • Personal Follow-Up Call: I would personally call the client to introduce myself, answer any initial questions, and confirm their appointment.

  • Formal Consultation: During the consultation, I used my QUEEN Method to understand their needs deeply and offer the most suitable high-value service packages.

Building Confidence and Connection

By embracing this approach, I found that my sales interactions became more meaningful and effective. Here’s how it transformed my business:

  • Enhanced Client Relationships: Clients felt heard, valued, and confident in their decision to invest in my services.

  • Increased Sales: With a clear value proposition and authentic communication, clients were more likely to commit to high-value packages.
